Although of recent formation, the Ensemble joins experienced musicians which share the aim to recover, study, play and arrange the patrimony of the Sardinian traditional music. Until its constitution, Kentu Kordas has performed a deep research activity seeking the Sardinian musical sources, trying to recover, beyond lyrics and music, also all the elements which has allowed both its birth and its “memory”. Inside the association it is first growth a musical laboratory for the study of typical lyrics and music of the religious, popular and ancient tradition, finalized to recover and use lyrics and music retrieved. Later, a skilled group of musicians play, arrange and promote the object of the research activity of the Laboratory, in the full respect of the authentic “soul” of the Sardinian music. In its activity, Kentu Kordas has combined the interpretation of both recently composed music or ancient music with sure sources with the direct research of archaic music and songs of religious and traditional origin. Kentu Kordas has developed a various and wide repertoire which includes all the musical performances typical of the Sardinian tradition: from the liturgical, processional and religious music that used to accompany popular dances, from love songs to music and songs related to events of the agricultural vintage year to archaic, monodic songs for voice soloist(s). Kentu Kordas, that has also participate to many important festivals and competitions in Italy and abroad, participates to Euro Folk 2003 in the instrumental-vocal quartet which constitutes the historical core of the Ensemble: Gilda Dettori pedal harp, Jana Bitti baroque an transverse flute, Luca Virgilio, piano, Antonio Porcu, tenor.
